Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, its affiliated colleges and Chandigarh Region Innovation & Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) students would participate in mega Yoga training Camp at PU Cricket Ground on May 22. The Yoga camp is being organised by PU as a run up to the International Yoga Day Celebration in which the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Damodardas Modi will lead the celebrations in Chandigarh on June 21, 2016.
The decision was taken in a meeting of PU campus departments, hostel wardens and affiliated colleges at PU campus. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover, Registrar Col GS Chadha (Retd), Dean Students Welfare(DSW) Prof Navdeep Goyal, DSW (Women) Prof Nandita, Wardens, PU administrative officers, Principals & representatives from all affiliated colleges of Chandigarh and CRIKC institutions participated in the meeting.
In the May 22 mega yoga training camp, the students, teachers, staff members and family members of the PU campus/ affiliated colleges and CRIKC institutions would be trained the yoga. No registration is required for the May 22 training but all the participants for the International Yoga Day celebrations would have to get themselves registered.
The meeting discussed the preparations for the June 21 celebrations. it was decided that as many as 5000 students, teachers, staff and their family members from all the higher education and CRIKC institutions should participate. The proper list of participants from each institute would be submitted with the Deputy Commissioner (Nodal Officer for the event), Chandigarh through Panjab University by May 31, 2016. Differently able people would also be encouraged to participate. Compiled data along with forms should be submitted to the office of Dean Student Welfare, Panjab University for further submission to the UT administration.
It was informed that the UT administration plan to issue Aadhaar Linked RFID based ID Cards for smooth entry into the venue. The participants will be divided into a group of 50 with one person as a group coordinator. All these participants will be sitting in one block at the venue. At the venue Yogic exercises as per Common Yoga Protocol (available on http://www.indianmedicine.nic.in/) will be taken up. After the completion of protocol all the other exercises can be performed in individual groups.
The Transport facilities would be provided by the UT administration from across the tri-city and adjoining areas. A group of 50 persons will be given one bus and no personal vehicle will be allowed on the venue. Yoga mats and T-shirts will be provided by the administration for the participants.
Entry to the venue will start by 04:00 AM and close by 06:00 AM through the only designated entry points which are to be conveyed by the administration.
