Voter’s Day Celebrated in PGGC11

In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, Govt. of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as ‘National Voters’ Day

On this account, the Political  Science Dept. of PGGC-11, along with the President, Mr. Sombir Grewal organised an Inter-College Declamation Contest on ‘Factors affecting the Voting patterns in India. ‘ Students from colleges across the tricity had participated. The Competition was given a kickstart by a few words of wisdom from the Principal, Mr. J. K. Sehgal, who enlightened the students about the importance of voting, especially in a Democracy like India and encouraged them to participate in the voting process wisely. Students from different colleges came forward and expressed their views, radiating knowledge about the Voting pattern and its parameters. Since the success of Democracy and formation of a responsible Government falls directly in the hands of voters, it is important the youth knows the scheme inside and out.

There was a much heated discussion with student touching various topics and the overall essence of voting was put forth.   The Govt. College for Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50  bagged the first position.

Everyone left the hall with some more knowledge about the ‘Political India’ and the event ended on a great note.
