I believe everyone is familiar with the Uri attacks but just to give a small briefing again, here it is. At least 18 soldiers were killed in a terror attack on an Army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir on September 18. All four terrorists, who attacked the camp, were killed.
The rush of reaction within India to the terrorist attack, clearly plotted and executed by Pakistan, is quite unlike the outrage that has followed similar cross-border crimes in the past.
This time a sense of exasperation is palpable. Irrespective of their personal political preferences, Indians across the country want to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi take visible, punitive action against Pakistan, imposing severe material costs for its deeds.
For if we look at it through perspective, India and its populace has had enough, a country with barely 20% of our population and resources has been attacking us since Partition, regardless of the fact that we have won all the major wars against them . But with the never ending ceasefire violations and state sponsored terror attacks, the acrimony is fathomable and rather even legitimate.
The real field wars have become a thing of the past, guerilla warfare has taken its place . But now if we refer to the recent actions in various countries, be it USA with Cuba, Russia or Iran, Diplomacy has been the key. The USA is not blowing missiles at any of the countries, rather it has been using its diplomatic prowess in isolating them from the International community and also putting sanctions in various forms to destabilize their economies. The results of which are very evident to the world , so I won’t elaborate here .
Even if we refer to Mr Modi’s recent addresses, he has referred to Diplomacy taking the lead on the road to becoming a world superpower, rather than waging wars , a statement I agree with .
I believe that instead of proclaiming to the World that we are at war, we should do something that should actually hit where it hurts in a way that the message is conveyed but we don’t directly attack the Civilians.
First of all, the media in the country, which is not liable to support the government, should at least be in tandem with the National Interest. Proclaiming terrorists as rebels or the child of a school headmaster who wanted to become a doctor wouldn’t work, it gives a wrong impression to the World which keeps the outlook of other countries unfavorable for us.
Both Mr Modi and Mr Rajnath want Pak to be declared a terrorist-state. Who should do that? Some third country? Why is it that India is not willing to take the first step instead of waiting for everyone else to fight for her? Nobody is going to fight for India. Foreign media like AP or BBC still call these terrorists “Rebels” as if they are locals who are revolting against some political issue. It is high time, that some non military diplomatic action needs to be taken immediately and effectively.
# Declare Pakistan a terrorist-state officially and cut off all bilateral ties with a resolution in the parliament. Withdraw the MFN status and cut off all ties.
# Expel the Pak envoy from Delhi and recall our envoy from Pak. Shut down our missions and ask all Indian citizens to return home.
# Ask all Pak citizens to return back. Nobody knows how many are still living illegally in India. Ban all travel by Indians to Pak.
# Ban appearance of all Pak panellists in any Indian media. All they do is abuse India and claim all terror attacks are self-inflicted by India to bad-mouth Pak.
# Make any sympathy for terrorists of any form severely punishable by law.
# Ban all cultural ties and ban all references to Pak by hate-mongers in Bollywood. Make no mistake, Pak-sympathisers even in Bollywood don’t do it accidentally.
# No more visits to Pak by any minister or PM. Not even for SAARC or any multi-lateral summits.
Pakistan happens to gain more from India than India gains from it, we can get our resources from elsewhere, till everything gets settled and good humanly ties thanks to the populace are restored but till then, there needs to be strong steps
What exactly do we want or gain from Pakistan? Nothing! When will we start putting our own interests above this stupid country? We have nothing to gain – not even business of any size is meaningful to us. Enough of “Kadi Ninda” or “Strongly Condemn”. Any military action across the LOC can wait another day. And if some action is not taken, I’m sure India will be seen as a soft, cowardly country not by others but by Indians themselves.
