The Legal Aid Clinic of University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University has been an impeccable step in the direction of providing Free Legal Aid Services to the underprivileged sections of our society. It seeks to address the social as well as legal issues of the downtrodden strata of public, giving them the spirit to address them using the power and rights guaranteed to them by the law. The cases usually pertaining to consumer disputes redressal and family matters are brought in by varied groups of people including the students, faculty and other employees of the University to seek legal assistance and guidance about the available remedy.
It serves the dual purpose of serving the indigent people as well as sensitizing the law students about the people’s needs and their condition and enriching them with a pragmatic application of law.
The students of UILS serving as para-legal volunteers under the guidance of distinguished advocates of the State Legal Services Panel like Adv. Gautam Bhardwaj address people’s issues on humanitarian and legal grounds.
The Clinic located in the UILS premises remains operative on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. and can be contacted for seeking any kind of Legal assistance.
