UDYAMI 2016 Kicks off amid great enthusiasm

,The three day event began on 18th march. The venue for the event was Law auditorium. With more than 50 teams taking part ,BYOC quiz began at 9:30 AM . Top ten would qualify for the Final round.At 10:30 AM , the opening ceremony started with the words of wisdom by Mr. David Lelliott ,British Deputy High Commissioner ,Chandigarh. He inspired the students by telling them about the struggles he faced during his work and his time at Mexico and Nigeria. He motivated the crowd by stating the following quotes;

“Don’t pass on the learning opportunity.”

“Don’t assume that your boss has all the answers.”

“Take opportunity to expand your horizon, just do your thing.”

Mrs Deepti(DSW,International students,PU)told the crowd to change, embrace that change and enjoy the change. Mr JK Goswamyenlightened the young students about the possibilities available to them in college itself, the hardships faced by UIET and how the faculty overcame them.

Following the ceremony, the result of BYOC was declared. More than 25 teams came for the next event called Start -Up of the Event. In this event, teams had to pitch the crowd for 2 minutes about their ideas and start-ups. The ideas were exciting and fast-paced.

 

This was followed by a panel discussion on ‘Travel’.

The speakers for the panel discussion were:

1.Chinmay Aagarwal ( co-founder of Jugnoo)

2.Dr. Srikant Sundarrajan ( Helion Advisor )

3. Akshay Bansal ( Business development head ,Oyo)

The moderator for the session was Mr.Simarpreet Singh, CEO & Founder of Mind Batteries.

The panel discussed the future of travel apps like Uber, Ola and Jugnoo as well as the future of OYO rooms and rentals. They also discussed about their start-ups , the struggle they faced and how they got into this business.The panellists discussed dynamic topics followed by a round of questions by the young minds.

“What do you want to say to youth who want to have their own entrepreneurs?”

Mr Srikant – I would say Go For IT! This is the right time to transform a small idea into a big one.

“What do you look for in a young startup?

Mr Srikant – A problem which can be solved, a market which can be articulated.

The advanced round of BYOC Started at 4:15 PM. A  total of 10 teams participated in the Finals.
