Third World Congress on Excellence started today at Panjab University


Third World Congress on Excellence started today at Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.
About 700 delegates from different countries like Canada, Belgium, Germany, Greece,
Russia, Srilanka, USA, Australia, India and Sweden are participating in the World
Congress in the field of Mental Training and Psychology. The World Congress is an august
assembly of Psychologists, Mental Trainers, Management Experts, Medical Scientists,
Neurologists and Yoga experts from all over the world.
The World Congress is being organized by PU Department of Psychology on behalf of
International Society of Mental Training for Excellence, in conjunction with Asia
Pacific Association of Psychology.
Inaugurating the World Congress, the Governor of Haryana & Punjab and UT Administrator
Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki described the international conference as very apt and
inspiring. He said that the prime desire of every body is to achieve excellence in life.
He said that the God has created excellent individuals, creatures and very excellent
human beings. All want excellent things, relations and partners in their life but do not
get those as they do not deserve them for their bad habits. He stressed for motivating
the people for adopting good habits and shunning bad habits & desires.
In a lighter vein, Prof Solanki said that it was a coincidence that all the people
seating on the Dias are Professors including him. He also referred to the famous poet
Iqbal’s reference by Prof. Jitendra Mohan couplet of “Khudi ko Kar Buland Itna” and said
that we should make our personality so profound and so worthy that we should not be
demanding rather there should be commanding. The aim should be to become master of
one-self, he added.
Earlier, the PU Vice Chancellor, Prof Arun Kumar Grover welcomed the guests and the
Governor at the University. He also referred to the great heritage and contribution of
the University.
In his address, Director of the conference and President, International Society of
Mental Training for Excellence (ISMTE) Prof. Emeritus Jitendra Mohan, Prof Mohan said
that excellence is very dynamic way of developing skills and knowledge by working with a
focus over a period of time and with unselfish motivation. The second part of excellence
is to achieve excellence and pass it on as to the next generation as heritage.
Excellence is the way of life, he further added.
PU Dean University Instructions, Prof A K Bhandari, world renowned motivator and mental
training expert Prof. Terry Orlick (Canada), Prof. Lars-Eric Unestahl(Sweden), Prof. Guy
Joseph Ale(USA), Padma Shri Prof. Amod Gupta(India), Prof. Kirti Singhe (Sri Lanka) and
large number of international experts in the field of psychology and mental training
participated in the inaugural session of the World Congress.
The themes of the congress include topics like Excellence in Life, Sports, Health, Arts,
Education, Business and Peace; The Shaping of an Athlete: Winner and Champion; Coaching
Revolution: New Paradigms in Mentoring and Leading; Research in the fields of Sports
Psychology, Positive Psychology, Health Psychology, Peace Psychology, Education and
Management; Leadership in Sport, Business and Armed Forces; Emerging Trends in
Creativity and Innovation etc.
