Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sec 26, Chandigarh organized a one day inter- college IT fest “TECHBEATS 2K18”.
The inaugural session was presided over by S. Gurdev Singh Brar, President Sikh Educational Society, Col. (retd.) Jasmer Singh Bala, Secretary Sikh Educational Society, Chief Guest Dr. M. L Raina, Former Chairperson, Department of English Punjab University. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. JyotiLamba Principal, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College and Prof. Gurpreet Kaur, Dean Computer Science; Sri Guru Gobind Singh College introduced the fest to those present. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Dr. M. L. Raina emphasized on the use of IT in an effective and productive way and how personal communication is all the more important in this era of technological advancement.
Various colleges of trinity participated in technical events like Photoshop Mania, Developer’s Challenge, Designer’s Paradise, Debugger’s Zone, AD-MAD show, Dance Pe Chance, Collage Making, E-waste Carving, and Face Painting. The technical expertise exhibited in the events by the students was commendable. The event was a pump up for the audience as they enjoyed various sessions of open mike and creative games.
The judges for the various events were from different city colleges, each an expert in their respective fields. The major highlight of the fest was that it was externally sponsored by SMIC Institute, Providence Solutions, Infomaths, EH-1 Infotech, Five Sense,and Oops Info Solutions and powered by VIVO.
Soon, after the cultural event it was time for prize distribution of respective competitions where in Photoshop Mania, PG Govt.College, Sec-11 Chandigarh stood first and SGGS College Sec-26 stood second. In Developer’s Challenge SAS IT & Research, Mohali stood first and a team of Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab University was second. In Designer’s Paradise PG Govt.College, Sec-11 was the winner while second position was bagged by SD College, Sec 32 .In Debuggers Zone, PG Govt. College, Sec-11 stood first and team of Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab University bagged the second position. In AD-MAD Show SGGS College Sec-26 was the winner. In Dance pe Chance again SGGS College Sec-26 was the winner. In Collage Making first position was bagged by PG Govt. College, Sec-11 and second by MCM DAV, Sec 36. In E-Waste Carving a team of Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab University Sec-14 stood first and Dev Samaj College of Education for Women Sec-36 was second. In Face Painting Post Graduate Govt. College of Girls College, Sec-11 stood first and SGGS College Sec-26 bagged the second position.
This event stretched out to the students of all streams and departments in order to express and show case the outstanding potential of the Post Graduate Department ofComputer Science to organize and initiate events of such a phenomenal scale
The management skills as a whole including all of the staff and student volunteers made Techbeats 2018 a major plus in the remarkable year of annual fests held by the college.

Ques1- What is TECHBeats all about?
Ans- The IT fest TECHbeats is being organised under the patronage of SES. It is an extension of learnt theories, providing a platform to our budding professionals to exhibit their talent and potential.
Ques2-What are the highlights of this event?
Ans- To well equipped the state of our students , dedicated and technical support. We boost to have permanent affiliation of MSC(IT).We organise 4 technical and 5 cultural events includes Photoshop mania, Designer’s paradise, Face painting, Actor’s delight and Dance Pe Chance. IT innovates theme but also innovates in cultural events.
Ques3- What are the competitions you cover in this fest?
Ans-We cover 9 competition like Photoshop mania, Developer’s challenge, Designer paradise, Debugger’s zone, E-wash carving, Collage making, Dance Pe Chance, Face Painting, Actor’s delight.
Ques4-Any chief guest you invited and the person who supported this event?
Ans-We invented our praise and learned worthy chief guest Dr. M.L Raina former chairperson department of English, Punjab university and the person who help us are our valuable sponsors, fellow colleagues, distinguished guest and our supportive participants.
Ques5- What is the improvements you have done from the last year’s?
Ans-The college is proud to pass 18 technical well equipped department and is now a potential center of excellence. We included selection of chief guest this year, handsome participation of various colleges. We included many out sponsored this year like VIVO, SMIC-47,INFOMATHS and many others to add.
Ques6- What is the main aim of TECHBEATS 2K18?
Ans-We aim to build 3d personality of our students inculcate pursuit of knowledge,commitment,self assurance and overall personality development.
Ques7-What are the main challenges you suffered to organise this event?
Ans-Main challenges for our team is funds. Very difficult to find sponsored but this year our team have many sponsores like SMIC-47,VIVO, H1-INFOTECH, INFOMATHS, oops Info solution, 5senses.
Ques8-What is the Main reason behind this fest?
Ans-Main reason is to extend a heartfelt welcome to the dignitaries and to the audience the best owing trust in us to formulate this event in the most suitable manner.
Ques9- Tell us something about your organised events in TECHBeats 2K18?
Ans-There are 4 technical and 5 cultural events .Efforts have been made to carefully select the events that are the most appropriate for the audience and guests, also by selecting judges from different colleges. 50 colleges have been invented from the Tricity and considerable teams have registered for the fest.
Ques10- Any message that you would like to deliver to the students to encourage them?
Ans-To inhibit their talent, a big chance to our new upcoming students to exhibit their talent and innovate their ideas not only in IT innovative but also in cultural events.
