The members of SDCU+SDHU from all walks of life organized a candle march on July 22, 2017 raising voice against the recent rape case in Kotkhai, seeking for proper investigation in the rape case and provide justice to the victim, Gudiya.
According to the recent investigation, the 16 year old teenager was returning home from her school when she was gang raped and brutally killed by the accused & his fellows, who used to work in an apple orchard. Gudiya’s body was later dumped in a nearby forest at Kotkhai tehsil’s Halaila village. There are also some allegations that the accused persistently raped the minor even after she was dead. The marks on her body stand testament to the fact that she was bitten savagely.
The students of GGDSD College initiated the candle march at 5:30 pm from the college campus. Harsh Sharma, President, Mannat Sharma, Girls Wing President, Mahima Chachra, Girls wing Vice-President, Anshika, Mansi, Jasmine Gill, Deepanshu Dawer, Deepinder Kumar Naik, Hardeep Baidwan, Mannat, and Rahul Pahwa were among the forty students who were present at the candle march.
Aastha Madan, a student of GGDSD College said, “It is high time that we change our perceptive about rape-victims. It is time to stop the shame and blame the rapists instead of the victims. The unconvincing probe about the rape case is only delaying the justice for Gudiya. At the end of the day, we’re all humans and we must preach humanity for peace to prevail. So today, we all decided to join hands for justice and we hope that justice is served very soon.”
