Sparkles 2k19, the most awaited Mega Charity event of the tri-city was finally held at the Leisure Valley, Sector 10, Chandigarh on February the 8th, 2k19. It was organised by the NavSankalp association in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation under the theme “SWACHH BHARAT, SWASTH BHARAT.”
NavSankalp is a student run organisation based in the Tri-city, which makes judicious donations to the patients admitted in PGIMER and GMSH-16. Till date, Navsankalp has contributed 63 lacs and has saved 165 lives.
The show began energetic at 5:00 pm, with a beautiful classical dance by Dr. Varun, a dentist by profession. He presented his ever graceful Bharatnatyam dance called ‘Shivkriti’ conveying the powerful message of India’s unity in diversity on a meaningful song in the Kannada language, by Sir Shri Padmacharan describing history of the ‘Taandava’– the renowned cosmic dance of Lord Shiva.
The next performance was a stupendous dance by the special kids of the Vatika High School with a valuable message “Your only limitation is you.” These kids were disabled to hear and speak thus well conveying the intended message.
The event was then followed by Rajat sharma from Anandpur Sahib singing his breakup story in a self composed and self written song, followed by an enactment of a mime scene from the famous movie ‘Mera Naam Joker,’ and yet another soul cleansing singing act by Aashish Vashishtha. Followed by these was an enigmatic performance by Aashish Rathudi, a mimicry artist, beatboxer and stage artist from Aagaz leaving the audience in amazement.
Girls from the MCM College also presented a lively and energetic dance act, which was followed by a fashion show, and the heart touching Navsankalp dance drama titled कुurbaani- “Khauf toh hamesha kamzor machate hein, but dehshat hamesha sheron ki hoti hai” depicting the hardships faced by the soldiers in the Indian army and their families.
Followed by these amazing performances was felicitation and speech by the honourable Chief guest for the event, Mr. Ajit Balaji Joshi; IAS, Director General (Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare). “We always crib and worry about the today’s youth and the upcoming generations but I’m surprised that a student based organisation is making such generous contributions to the society and could alone raise such a huge amount for the welfare of the needy; and I’m only so proud.”— said he.
NavSankalp also donated the amount of INR 25000 to a patient who has to undergo bladder augmentation. And lined up last, were two of the most awaited and power pact LIVE performances of the night leaving the audience in awe, by the star attractions of the event Jassi Gill and Babbal Rai. The audience was left no choice but to tap their feet to the spell binding music.
