She needed a Hero and that’s what she became

Words like cameraman and chairman have been rephrased as cameraperson and chairperson, to accommodate women. The same way the Indian Defense Forces, which was for long considered as a male dominated work place has now accommodated bold and confident women who have bought great prestige to this nation, India. History has taught us over and over again that freedom is not free. When push comes to shove, the ultimate protectors of freedom and liberty are the brave soldiers. And these brave soldiers are the strong women of our nation. The women have changed their delicate darling personality to a woman wearing combat shoes and a rifle in her hand firing in the battlefield for us to sleep, safe and sound. The time when we carry a purse, she carries the 65lb rucksack. The time we wear out heels, she wears her combat boots to fight in the field. The time we paint our faces to look beautiful, she paints her face for camouflage. And then when we kiss our lovers to say goodbye for a day, she kisses her goodbye like she will never come back. This is how beautiful the women in the defense forces make us feel.  They fire in the battle field, fly a fighter aircraft and sail for years, far from the family to make us secure. It was a revolution in itself the day the women sacrificed their security for our security. Women receive the same training as the men and have proved that they are as physically strong as men are. Then why does a woman need a muscle man when she is herself so strong to fight for herself and for the nation. She is her own Hero.
