It is said that the beginning is the most important part of the work; which is why it is always made sure that the starting of anything is splendid. Heading towards another year and a new beginning, the Rotaract Club of DAV College, Chandigarh organized installation ceremony and orientation programme for the new recruits at the main auditorium of DAV College, on September 17th, 2016.
The event witnessed the presence of DRR. Shubham Rattan, Sh. Baldev Aggarwal and Dr. Purnima Sehgal as the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and teacher in-charge respectively; who received a floral welcome from the current panel members. The ceremony commenced after the musical band ‘Aafreen’ created a melodious atmosphere in the auditorium.
Following it, the panel for the session 2016-17 was announced; with Rtr Khushween Kainth taking up the position of President, Rtr Davinder Mujaidia becoming Vice-President, Rtr Navneet Kaur Nagra embracing the responsibility of being the General Secretary and Rtr Gursimran Singh taking up that of Joint Secretary. Similarly, the post of Sargent at Arms went to Rtr Shubham Sewal, while Rtr Gaurav Mahajan took up the Treasurer office. Rtr Prakash, Rtr Shikha, Rtr Anmol and Rtr Kunal became the Directors, while Rtr Runal Gupta and Rtr Jatin Kumar were announced Club Literacy Committee Chairperson and Public Relation Officer respectively.
The new members were acquainted with the activities of the club and their achievements; the biggest of all being the collection of amount Rs. 59,422 in just four hours. This was followed by President, Khushween Kainth’s speech, who welcomed the new members to the club and announced the projects and activities for the session 2016-17.
The installation ceremony concluded with the speech by Dr. Purnima Sehgal, the teacher in-charge. In her address, she congratulated the new members and the panel, and elucidated the importance of the club.
Henceforth, the event vouched a total change from a formal environment to an informal one. The crowd enjoyed the heart-stirring performance by the musical band, ‘Zunoon’, whose aura was unmatched. The event ended with the Bhangra performance that made each member get down and dance to the beat. To sum up, it was one great event to embark on a new beginning!
