Punjab Kala Parishad organised ‘Lok Rang 2018′ at RGC, Ludhiana


To indicate traditional and cultural awareness about the rich heritage of Punjab among youth ‘Lok Rang 2018′ traditional and cultural category based Inter- college competition was organized by the Punjab Kala Parishad at Ramgharia Girls College, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana.


Around 26 colleges took part in it. Padam Sri Dr. Surjit Patar, Chairperson Punjab Kala Parishad, S. Lakhwinder Singh Johal, General. Sec, Punjab Kala Parishad graced the occasion. Principal Dr. Inderjit kaur extended the floral welcome to the eminent guests. Dr. Patar in his inaugural speech said that we all are facing the drowning fear of globalization, so it is our responsibility to preserve our culture and to protect its heritage values.

Many stage items like Vaar Gayan, Kali Gayan,  Kawishri,  Kavit and Ladies Tradtional Songs spell bound the audience. Students also showcased their talents in many off stage items such as Rassa Vattna , Peerhi Making , Sarr Gundana , Tokri Making , Khiddo Making and Phulkari etc. S. Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgharia Educational Council presided over the event and appreciated the efforts of the Punjab Kala Parishad. He encouraged the youth to protect the beauty of their rich heritage. He mentioned that Punjabi language is losing its significance, because younger generation is not well- versed with the same. These efforts of the Kala Parishad will be helpful in keeping one bound to one’s roots.

Principal Dr. Inderjit Kaur addressed the audience by saying that it is important to keep younger generation in tune with their heritage, culture and traditions. It is not wise to lose the traditions with passing generations.

The event came to its end with the distribution of Prizes and certificates to the winners. S. Gurcharan Singh Lotey, General Secretary, Ramgharia Educational Council gave vote of thanks to the Punjab Kala Parishad for providing such platform to the youth to showcase their talent.
