PUMUN 2018: Testing Diplomacy for Good

Panjab University Model United Nations 2018 initiated discussion and consideration over various topics of current times in the premises of University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University from 20th-21st January, 2018.
The two-day conference was organized in association with PUSCC, President- Jashan Kamboj & General Secretary- Vani Sood. The MUN commenced in the Moot Court Hall with an opening ceremony, where Emanual Nahar presided as the Chief Guest, Rattan Singh- the Guest of Honor, and Dr. Shruti Bedi- faculty member. 
Saurav Khanna, the Secretary General of PUNMUN addressed the guests & students, highlighting the importance of such activities.
The four committees in the MUN were the UN General Assembly, All India Political Parties Meet, UN Human Rights Council, and UN Security Council, each focusing on different agendas.
The General Assembly honed on the situation in Afghanistan, while mentioning threats caused by illegal armed groups, and civilian protection with special emphasis on women and children. AIPPM debated on the feasibilities and criminalization of marital rape. The conference witnessed a meeting of the Security Council and Counter-Terrorism Committee on terrorist threat to civil aviation.
The HRC targeted one of the most relevant issues of the world- Right to Education, with reference to post 2015 Developmental Goals. 
The debates were stimulated, under the guidance of an able Executive Board, and an active Organizing Committee. Delegates from various schools and colleges of the tri-city, avidly took part in the conference, and bid adieu to each other in high zeal & verve.
