PU Ranks Thirty-Third (NIRF)

The Ministry Of Human Resource Development (MHRD), released 2018 rankings of universities across India, under its National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). This framework is a methodology adopted by MHRD to rank institutions of higher education India.  The NIRF positioned Panjab University, Chandigarh on 33rd rank with an overall score of 50.94. It applied several genuine parameters like, resources, research, and stakeholder perception, no. of women staff, facilities to specially abled and etc. Indian Institute of Science (Bengaluru) and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (Chennai), topped the list

Panjab University of Chandigarh performed quite well with a respectable rank of 33rd position.

The report delves into various aspect of a good university and analyses them to calculate all India rank. Looking upon the faculty details, PU has around 696 Faculty members with Ph.D qualification,  and  504 women faculty members, which correctly maintains the equilibrium of male and female teachers.

In terms of student details, no. of female student lies between 9 thousand to 10 thousand. There are more than 8 thousand students from outside the state and 178 students migrated from outside India.  At the same time, the university   beautifully shows it capacity to maintain equality in education system, with enrollment of a good number of student belonging to Economically backward classes and socially challenged groups. The Panjab University also proved its credibility in proving friendly environment and infrastructure to the physically challenged students.  PU has equally performed well in paying it s teachers sufficiently, and in terms of student placements

NIRF report also establishes financial transparency, by proving data on total expenditure made by PU in last three years. In the year 2016-17, PU made total expenditure of rupees 4696091610/-, which is slightly less than the preceding year.

With good standards of educational curriculum and scholarships provided to a range of students, Panjab  University  still maintains its prestige as a University fascinated  by many after passing out from  high school.  With no skepticism, PU shines like, a start among other top ranked universities in India. However, there’s always a room for improvement. We wish Panjab University all the best for the endeavors ahead.
