POTC- Back With A Bang!


Rotaract Himalayan organised third and the most jaw dropping edition of tricity’s biggest treasure known as ‘Pirates of the City‘ on November 6th, 2016. It was an adrenaline pumping-super adventurous Treasure Hunt spread across the city.

The hunt involved the participation of about 150 teams who went around the tricity looking for the clues to discover the Treasure.  The flagship took off  at Sector 7 ( Sports Complex), where the much excited participants got their first clue and the Hunt began. To make it more innovative, participants were asked to dress up in the best pirate outfit as they might just get lucky to grab a prize for the ‘Best Outfit’. Samar Sidhu, one of the participants, commended the efforts put in by the rotaractors and said that he enjoyed the adrenaline rush that the game instilled, and he plans to participate next time too. The prizes were worth Rs. 50,0000, which included cash, goodies and vouchers.

The Rotaract Himalayan is the largest, student-run, non-profit organizations of the Tricity. The club has taken upon itself the responsibility of shaping the leaders of tomorrow. It organizes various events, from salsa slam to literacy missions. The money raised from such events is used for a noble purpose. The Club has adopted a school in Sector 3B2, Mohali and named it as Happy School. Last year, the money collected through POTC was used to provide benches, books, uniforms as well as for whitewashing the walls of the classrooms, washrooms, staffroom and corridor area to create a rejuvenating study environment. Mr. Rohit Garcha, the President of the club believes that the zeal of Rotactors is high to make Happy School a better place for underprivileged and needy students to study in. Their ultimate aim is to improve the education condition of these kids. Hence ,through this fun activity, the purpose of philanthropy is also achieved.The contestants did not only have fun while doing the tasks but also helped the organisation to contribute for a charitable purpose.
