गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुर्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः
गुरुरेव परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥१॥

To make the above “Guru Stotram” realistic and in what could be called a real gesture of gratitude to the teachers, the Physical Education Department of PGGC -11 organized a colorful function to celebrate the Teacher’s Day in the college auditorium. Prof. Nandita Shukla Singh, Dean DSW (Women’s) Punjab University honored the function as the revered Chief Guest. The most unique and nostalgic moment of the function was marked with the presence of all the Principals of the first Government College of Chandigarh ever since it was established in 1953. Each one of them was facilitated and honored. They shared their experiences with the present staff of the college. The Chief Guest honored many teachers for their distinguished achievements and awarded the winners of the declamation competition held a day before. The cultural activities, portrayed by students, were enjoyed by one and all. The Principal Mr. J S Raghu, personally extended his thanks to all the former principals and other teachers for their pivotal contribution in the progress of the college.

The Chief Guest addressed the gathering by emphasizing on the essence and significance of an ideal teacher-student relationship for the flawless education. She also evoked the students to respect their teachers just like their parents. Further she quotes the famous couplet of Sant Kabir,

गुरु गोविन्द दोऊ खड़े काको लागूं पायं।
बलिहारी गुरु आपने जिन गोविन्द दियो बताय।
