Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh and the University of Birmingham (UoB),
United Kingdom (UK) today signed the Collaboration Memorandum of
Understanding at New Delhi.
PU Vice Chancellor, Prof Arun Kumar Grover and UoB Provost and Vice
Principal, Professor Adam Tickell signed the MoU on behalf of two
Universities. Professor Adam Tickell and Prof Arun Kumar Grover were
leading their University delegations in New Delhi to sign the MoU. MoU has
been signed following two visits from each side to the other partner
Chandigarh Region Innovation & Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC)
institutions, a group of 20 leading Educational institutions & national
laboratories of Chandigarh region, are also part of the MoU. PU VC as
Chairman of CRIKC may seek involvement of institutes and universities under
this cluster in the Chandigarh area by mutual consent of all concerned
parties. Cooperative projects under this agreement may include any of the
academic disciplines of the parties.
As per the agreement, the initial focus of the two leading
universities of India and UK would be for mutual research collaborations,
exchange visits by faculty & students, organization of joint conferences,
workshops and schools, creation of a joint program to develop innovations
and discoveries for large scale applications. In order to carry out and
fulfill the aims of this Memorandum, each party will appoint a coordinator,
who will be responsible for managing the development and conduct of any
activities upon which the parties agree.
PU is a leading University of India. It was ranked in the bracket of
501-600 in the Times Higher Education World Ranking for year 2015-16. UoB
is also a leading University of the UK and was ranked at 148 in the Times
Higher Education World Ranking for year 2015-16.
