The mathematics society of DAV College, Sector 10, Ramanujan Mathematics Society organized an orientation programme in the college campus on September 14, 2017. The event portrayed the subject- Mathematics in a light of interest, contrary to the presumption of it being inapplicable and to many, ‘scary’. It also highlighted how the subject induces its practitioners, faculty and students to have higher logical thinking and improve the problem solving skills, enabling them to face the real-life challenges in a more practical manner.
The event started with Ganesh Vandana, followed by a power-point presentation giving a glimpse of the activities of the society. The attendees were apprised of the Vedic Maths Techniques as a handy tool for success in competitive exams. To lighten up the setting, fun games and performances like Bhangra and group dance were also arranged for.
What was awaited, was the declaration of the Ramanujan Mathematics Society Panel for the session 2017-18, which happened in an atmosphere of excitement and zeal well-suited to the cause. Mallika Dhingra took charge of the office of President, while Mehak Katyal embraced the responsibilities of being Vice-President of the society. The posts of Secretary went to Ravi, that of Joint Secretary to Rajan Gupta and Rajvinder Kaur, and of Treasurer to Tanvi.
Prof. Rita Jain, HoD of Mathematics, appreciated the efforts of the faculty and students for organizing such a wonderful event to showcase the talent of young ambassadors of the department. The teachers and students also thanked Dr.B. C. Josan, Principal of the college for his guidance and support.
