National Conference on Advance Oxidation Processes’ started at Panjab University (PU)


The prestigious national conference is being organized by Dr. SS Bhatnagar University
Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (SSB UICET) and ENERGY Research Centre,
under TEQIP-2 in collaboration with Society of Environmental Chemistry and Allied
Sciences (SECAS) Kottayam, Kerala.
PU Vice Chancellor, Prof Arun K Grover was the Chief Guest and President SECAS, Mr.
B.S.M Rao was the Guest of Honour. The inaugural program was attended by delegates and
students from all over the country.
Emeritus Professor UICET, Prof. S K Sharma delivered the keynote lecture. He said that
the aims of the conference to trace a Road Map with focus on development of reliable and
economical processes. Even the biologically toxic or pollutants having high chemical
stability such as pesticides and petroleum constituents can be treated by advanced
oxidation technologies, he added.
Mementos were presented to the chief guests by Organizing Secretary Prof. A. P. Toor and
UICET Chairperson Prof. Meenakshi Goyal. The inaugural session was followed by invited
lectures chaired by Prof. S K Sharma.
Professor- Bangalore University, Prof. Gomathi Devi delivered lecture on “Non Metal ion
doping method” followed by a lecture of Professor- Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam
Dr. C T Arvindakumar on “Emerging Pollutants”. Senior Principal Scientist NEERI Nagpur,
Dr. N N Rao delivered a lecture on “Advantages of AOP “. The session was based on
applications of AOPs in various fields.
