Literati 2016 Lightens Chandigarh Like Never Before

The Chandigarh Literature Society is organizing Literati 2016 on November 26th and November 27th. The two day literature festival kick started at an inordinate note on the banks of Sukhna Lake with the presence of renowned authors and literature scholars from beyond the borders, on its first day on November 26th, 2016.

The event was graced by the benign presence of the Chief Guest, Governor of Punjab, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, who gave a new direction to the audience by his words of wisdom. Acknowledging the efforts of the volunteers, he hoped this event to reach a large chunk of the society and vowed to take it a step further through his contribution.

Canadian-American novelist of Indian descent, Shauna Singh Baldwin emphasized on a very enticing topic, “Change although a necessity of the time yet is feared by all”. The next session ‘Parvaaz‘ headed by the chairperson of CLS, Sumitra Mishra and Satish Gulati along with the CLS Secretary Madhav Kaushik as the moderator gave an altogether new horizon to the blooming authors and writers.

The next two sessions ‘Reluctant Rebellions‘ & ‘Introducting Shauna Singh Baldwin’ organized by the General of Canada, Dr. Christopher Gibbins and  moderator Suparna Saraswati Puri was quite informative and interactive one; which gave a chance to everyone to acknowledge the contribution and evolution of the literature since antiquity till date.

It was followed by two sessions in line, namely ‘Abhivyakti aur Adhunikta‘ and ‘Mysteries of Mind‘. The last session of the day, ‘Punjabi Cinema: Storytellers Return‘ saw the presence of Jass Grewal, a renowned story, screenplay and dialogue writer of Punjabi cinema who has also received many awards for weaving best story of a Punjabi movie. The moderator of the session was Balpreet Singh. The evening ended up laughter-filled with the quirkiness of a great comedian, Radhika Vaz.

In a nutshell, Literati was a beautiful blend of literature of Indian origin and other countries. This event in a true sense highlighted the artistic and intellectual value of Literature.
