Lassya initiates a dancing upsurge with ‘Auditions X’

The Official Dance Club of DAV College, Lassya, conducted their much awaited ‘Auditions X’ at the main auditorium in DAV College on August 3, 2016. Counting the number, around 75 participants auditioned and showcased their dancing skills in the same event.

Lassya is the first ever official hip-hop Dance Club of Chandigarh, which was formed a decade ago by Chaitanya Rai Vashisht. With some of the finest dancers, it is an active dance group, which has participated in a number of competitions and has romped to victory in almost every one of them. The well renowned politician and Indian film actress, Smt. Kirron Kher once invited the group to perform in the famous dance show- ‘India’s Got Talent.’ And that gives an idea that they are undoubtedly amazing.

The event started at 3:00pm and went on for almost three hours. The auditorium was jam-packed and it seemed no less than a dance festival. From desi free-style dance to videshi hip-hop, the participants performed with enormous zeal and enthusiasm. The hooting from the crowd continued throughout the event, which showed their level of jollity and excitement. Dancers trod a measure on some famous Bollywood and English dance numbers like ‘Sun Saathiya’, ‘Cheap Thrills’ and many more, setting the stage on fire. The energy and vigour experienced at the event was unmatched.

Lassya also invited various societies of DAV College like NavSankalp, Commerce and Management Society, Aaghaz and Rotaract; a gesture that deserves appreciation.

Dr. Purnima Sehgal, the teacher in-charge of Lassya; who has been a constant guide to the team, wished all the contestants good luck for the results and expressed her love for the dance group. She was also one of the judges present in the panel; others being Lakshay Jain, Aradhana Prashar, Shivali Sharma and Abhikaran Sharma.

Upon completion of the auditions, Dr. Purnima Sehgal congratulated the team for conducting such a well-managed event and blessed the team for a wonderful session ahead. With a belief that dancing is one of the shortcuts to happiness, Lassyaites are undoubtedly doing wonders in the field of dance.
