Kavitactic, the city’s very own poetry group organized yet another amazing event, “The Spoken Approach” at Innov8 Coworking, Chandigarh (which not to mention, has really aesthetic infrastructure) on August 28th, 2016. The incentive for this event specifically was to cater the knowledge and the current situation of spoken word poetry in tri-city.
The event kicked off by showing a video of slam poetry on the topic of education, which was followed by discussions among the audience regarding the video and about the importance and need of slam poetry. A few more videos of spoken word were shown to the people which covered strong and sensitive topics. Many amazing poets showcased their talents of spoken poetry, and mesmerized the crowd with their words and dexterity of delivering them. One of the initiators of Kavitactic, Gursaya Grewal too performed. After each performance, the poets shared their views and experiences of the mentioned topic.
Yet another evening by Kavitactic brought the poets and the listeners together at one place altogether, and by the end of the event, a lot of people learned a lot of things, new and old about poetry and spoken word, as told by Gursaya and Prerit. To enhance and improvise the platform of spoken word in Chandigarh, Kavitactic took a step to initiate this reaction among the local people and hopefully this reaction will propagate towards a better direction.
