To create awareness about National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on 1st October, Rotaract Club of Chandigarh Shivalik invited people from all over the tricity to join hands for a “Human Chain”. More than 1000 Rotaractors stood linking arms near Jan Marg, Sector-16, Chandigarh. They held placards symbolizing the importance of blood donation and urging everyone to do their part.
The human chain consisted of rotaractors from over 20 other clubs including Rotaract Club of SD College, Rotaract Club of Soaring Monks, and Rotaract Club Mohali.
District Governor, Rtr. TK Ruby was the chief guest for the event. Rotary Chandigarh along with the district council also praised the club for a successful awareness drive, the fifth year in a row.
DRR of RID 3080 Yashika Sagar also graced the event and congratulated her home club. She urged the general public to support this drive and said, “Everybody should come forward to donate their blood which is used for a noble cause.”
Dressed in white, they engaged the passer-bys and enlightened the importance of blood donation. “Anyone who weighs 50 kg, is up to the age of 60 years, and who is fit & healthy, can donate blood. We have the most precious resource to donate and should share this invaluable gift with those in need“, said a Rotaractor.
The event was followed by a blood donation camp at Bal Bhawan, Sector-23, Chandigarh. A great influx of over 100 motivated citizens was seen as they came forward to contribute their part to the society. Which was later followed by a carnival organized with the support of Rotary Blood Bank.
The immense hard work & zeal of the Rotaract Club of Shivalik and other Rotaract Clubs was clearly evident, which further contributed to the make the world a better place to live in.
