Hook Virse Di: Revival of Traditional Punjab


The Punjab Kala Kender and Virasat-E-Punjab Art and Culture Club organized the event “Hook Virse Di”, a musical evening representing folk dances and folk songs of Punjab at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh on July 19th, 2017.

pu-12The Guest of Honour, Dolly Malkiat, the Queen of Punjabi Folk Music lit the lamp and the program began. The evening focused at embracing the rich culture of Punjab in today’s youth. The folk music of Punjab invoked the traditions as well as the people’s hardworking nature and bravery.

pu-13Many vibrant voices brightened the musical evening and reminded the audience of the beautiful compositions of the various eternal poets under the direction of their guide, Harinder Pal Singh. The limelight of the evening was The Dhol Beating Performance by the little girl, Jahaan, being very cheerful and enthusiastic.

pu-16Later, the special guest, Dolly Malkiat honoured the organizing team and the participants and the program concluded with the most awaited and mesmerizing Bhangra performance.
