The Economics Society of DAVC, Sector 10, Chandigarh organised ‘Eco Enquesta’ in the Mini Auditorium of the college on November 17th, 2016. ‘Eco Enquesta’ was an inter-college quiz wholly and solely based on economics. It was built in a way that the practical knowledge of the participants was accessed. Over 14 teams, each team comprising of two members, from different colleges namely, DAVC Sector 10, GGDSD College Sector 32, Government College Sector 20, GCG Sector 11 and SGGS College Sector 26 participated in it.
Dr. Prof. Balwinder Singh Tiwana, HoD economics of Punjabi University, Patiala was invited as the guest of honour. Dr. Tiwana is a well know personality in the field of Economics. He has reached great heights in the sphere of Economics. HoD economics, DAVC- Dr Vinod Kumar and The Economics Society, Convener- Kavita Anand were the co-coordinators of the quiz.
The event kick started with a preliminary round, all the fourteen teams had to give a test to qualify to the the next rounds. Only five teams got selected for the coming up rounds. The next part of the quiz comprised of several rounds, namely, guess the economist, tell the graph, Buzzer round and a very interesting dumb-charade round. The event was followed by a speech given by Dr. Tiwana on how economics prevails everywhere in the world, he also talked about the recent ban of higher denominations of currency in India.
A team from Government College Sector 11 bagged the first position, followed by a team from PG Government College Sector 20 and the third position was won by the DAV Sector 10 team. The winners were provided with trophies and exciting goodies from the sponsors of the event. The quiz saw a huge number of attendance and the viewers enjoyed it at the most. The Economics Society also announced ‘DAVCMUN2017’ in the end of the event.
