Goonj the annual fest of the U.I.E.T (University Institute of Engineering and Technology) has
created an enormous mesmerizing sphere for the students to celebrate the idea to explore the
world with their hidden talent. The event is a 3-day event, second day of which took place on
February 24,2018. It had variations in the pattern of legacy of the fest in U. I. E. T’s history.
The distinct element this year is that Goonj is working on the other side of the curriculum to
promote extracurricular activities as well. Splitting the event in different themes varying from
technical events to cultural, fashion and literary events. With the motive to present as the finest blend of engineering departments on a single platform.
A perfect kick start with the essence of fun and healthy competing attitude, technically called
“PLETHORA THE GAMING EVENT” including game wars like FIFA 18, Counter strike go,
Clash royale, Mini Militia. Around 150 entries were made by the participants in this knock out
tournament. Qualified players will get the seats in finale which will be held on 25th of
February 2018. Subsequently an open mic was held to provide students with the right to share
their views on any topic they want, spiced with shayaris, poems and short stories.
Goonj further continued with a talent hunt and treasure hunt for the keen wanderers participating in teams hosting within the boundaries of U. I. E. T and Dental college sector-14, Chandigarh. Team lead by Sahil Mahajan conquered the treasure hunt and encouraged with the cash prize of INR 5000/- and some goodies.
To fight the hunger strike, numerous stalls of delicious food were there. Rock-and-roll and other swings were there for the adventure lovers.
PU affiliated colleges couldn’t resist without performing the bhangra representing the culture of Punjab. Same happened with the U. I. E. T, Bhangra warriors where they created the supreme level of energy in the fest and Pragati of MCM DAVC won the first prize in the war with the cash prize of INR 4,000/-.
Maintaining the momentum of the fest, fashion show worked as a fuel to drive the fest. Each
model represented different cultures with the fusion of fashion trend. Team UIET won the first
prize being the Chandigarh’s fashionista.
Day 2, of the event winded up with euphoria, enthusiasm and live performance by the harmonious alignment of different groups in Rap Battle, making the crowd groove, hoot and whistle with their arms in the air, lost in the sanctity of the music. Fighting tough against number of competitors Atul won the battle. But unfortunately, Swastik Band of Chandigarh-Dehradun couldn’t perform due to the thunderstorm, though it was balanced by the amazing Rap battles.
Paras one of the participant from the gaming event quoted “Fest worked like a boosting machine to get relaxed from our routine jobs and enjoying the life. I’m glad that I participated in the event”.
Swapnil, the working official mentioned “The day 2 of the fest was a great success lined up
with number of events and challenges due to unfavorable weather conditions. But we’re
looking forward to make the last day of the fest unforgettable with some unusual and
