Geography department of PGGC 11 organises poster display on environment conservation


The Geography Department organised a colorful display of posters on the Environment Conservation with its theme “OZONE DEPLETION”. The theme was selected by keeping in mind about the upcoming Ozone meet to be held in Dallas, USA in February 2016 to express concern, create awareness and to adopt strict measures to protect the Ozone layer which is a life cover for the planet earth.

Dr. Jasmeet Kaur, HOD, Geography Department convened the event and gave her views on the Ozone Depletion, its present situation and its adverse effects. Dr. Rakesh of Sociology Department gave away the prizes to the winners of the Poster Making Competition and also gave his views on the environmental degradation and emphasized on the steps to be taken by young students to preserve it. As many as 50 posters were displayed in the corridors of the Geography Department.

The event concluded with an interactive session between the faculty and students on various issues related to the environment. The students also learnt many unknown facts and figures related to the Ozone depletion.
