Desarrollo- An Eye To The New Horizon


The Rotary Club, Chandigarh organized an interactive session on Professional Development called ‘Desarrollo- An Eye To The New Horizon’ on February 18th and 19th, at Rotary House, Chandigarh. The event focused on a holistic professional development of the participants by sensitizing them about skills, productivity, positive thinking, potential and communication. It imparted an important lesson of achieving professional goals effectively and efficiently.

Various basic yet, important factors were put into consideration like the do’s and don’ts of group discussion, the case studies in particular, written tests and many more. The highlighting topic was ‘Statement of Purpose’ which is used in lieu of resume and is a prevalent criteria of judgement in present time.

The trainees were given an image depicting a group of people with bottles in their hands on which they were expected to put forward their varying opinions within 10 minutes. Various problems related to management, professionalism, coordination amongst departments etc were presented and the participants were required to tackle with the same using their own pragmatic approach. All these mind boggling case studies, presentations were presented by the iridescent member of the Rotary Club, Sahil Gupta who is pursuing his further course from Narsee Monjee Institute. He was interactive and vocal enough in jotting down the individual problems and fallacies which are necessary to be corrected at the initial stage itself.

A proper session pertaining to cautionary steps during personal interviews, important points in CV, was also held. To break the monotony and ensure enthusiastic participation of all, each one of them was required to come up with a business idea or a product made with the help of 25 straws. The basic focus was to acquaint them with the fact that “constructive and rational ideas are the base of every professional world.”

The students brought their own resumes along which were duly checked and ameliorated by the trainers. The second day stressed on imparting practical knowledge of the theoretical part discussed before. Proper training and sessions were organized to give an insight into the reality of the professional world which indeed was a knowledgeable one. The seminar ended on an exuberant note whereby individual feedback and responses were taken into consideration by the organizers. The workshop was definitely a helping hand for those striving to make a mark in the corporate world.

In a nutshell, the main aim of this event was to provide a platform to the budding corporate leaders and members whereby they learn, explore and observe the actual scenario of the professional world.
