“Lok geet hai Punjab ke aan,
Karte sachai har lafz me bayan”
September 22nd, 2017 brought to us the third day of the Panjab University’s 59th Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival which was being organized in the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh. The day was initially scheduled for the inauguration of the College as it has been renovated, which is quite evident from the beautifully built college premises, but, unfortunately, the inauguration ceremony had to be postponed. Though the postponement of inauguration ceremony brought misery to the college and its students, the events of the day three enthused the college all over again. The third day of Youth and Heritage Festival was full of breathtaking competitions. Activities from various spheres, such as Mime, Skit, Rangoli Making, Traditional Singing, and various art and craft competitions took place in the college premises. The opening event was of elocution, which took place in the open stage one, set up in the college premises. Various teams from different colleges were seen participating in the mimicry competition, but the first position was bagged the host college, GCCBA, Sector 50. Their mesmerizing performance left the audience in awe.
Various literary competitions also took place on the day, which showed the high level of intellect in the Panjab University and its affiliated colleges. The participants of poem recitation bound the audience in their web of words and the debate organized was equally enchanting. The show was disturbed by the Indra Dev, as he decided to pay a visit to the event bringing heavy rains with him. The Management Club of the college did an amazing job in countering the situation. GGDSD College, Sector 32 bagged the winner’s position in the skit, which organized towards the end of the day.
“Today’s event was as amazing as the other two days. The rain did try to spoil the event, but we were able to do the needful on the spot. The club and its members were prepared for the same as we were already keeping a tab at the weather forecast. The inauguration of the college has been postponed due to the unavoidable situation.” said a member of Gestione, the management club.
The last day of the festival comprised of Instrumental Music competition, Orchestra and folk dances, which was later followed by an enticing closing ceremony.
As the Youth and Heritage Festival concluded on September 23, 2017, GGDSD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh won the Overall Zonal Trophy of Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival, fourth time in a row.
