Dandiya night 2k16 by MCM Rotaract club

With the stage set, colorful rangolis drawn and the signature golden lights adorning the hall, the Rotaract Club of MCM DAV College for Women contributed its bit to the society by organizing a fundraising event,‘Dandiya Night 2k16’ on Oct 5, 2015.

From the very beginning of the event, the atmosphere was quite electric with the girls trying to get past the Rotaracters, who were appointed for security and facilitating entry into the venue- Gymnasium Hall!

The event began with the dance competition, wherein raunchy Dandiya-cum-Bhangra performances won the hearts of the audience. The funkiness took a high leap when a group of girls, wearing quirky jeans and blouses along with dupattas tucked in the saree fashion, performed on a mixed number of ‘lean on’ and Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘Nacchan Farrate’.

And while one was still absorbed in the bollywood beats, the Rotaracters startled everyone by suddenly forming a human chain. What it revealed moments later was the grand entry of Punjabi pop sensation Satinder Sartaj, accompanied by the Principal of MCM DAV College, Mrs. Neena Dhawan.

Himself being a singer, songwriter and poet, Satinder Sartaj gave away the prizes to the winners of the dance competition. On behalf of the MCM DAV Rotaract Club, he also presented the fund-collection, amounting to Rs 75,000, to Mrs. Dhawan for the open heart surgery of an underprivileged patient.

With this noble cause fulfilled, he not only posed for the shutterbugs but also filled the hall with his super hit song “Sai”, as the girls crooned along to his melodious voice.

Following this spell-binding span of melody, the girls rushed to the sumptuous food counters, which offered an array of tempting dishes being doled out to the already starving souls. This was further followed by a DJ session, wherein the girls danced the night away in a full swing!

Overall, this event as organized with a pious motive, ended on a even successful note to show how GIVING CAN BE FUN TOO!
