With the election fever having embraced the Panjab University and the other affiliated colleges by far, MCM DAV College for Women ascertained the fate of the Student Council following the polls on Wednesday. Comprising of the representatives of various streams, the newly elected council is officially headed by Aantpreet Kaur (Bsc III) as President, who would be working for the betterment of the college students with Vice-President Uma Sharma (Bsc III), General Secretary Saundharaya Khanna (BA II) and Joint Secretary Prerna Arora (BCom I).

Strictly abiding by the rules of the Lyngdoh Committee, the authorities made proper arrangements for the casting of the votes and the policy of privacy was taken proper consideration of. The entire election process was infact carried out under the supervision of the police officials. But, what marks the election in MCM DAV College for Women different from that of others, is the fact that the college prohibits any student party within the campus and that the selection of the members is made out of individual candidates. Taking pride in keeping with the discipline as the result of this rule, the authorities also ensure strict filtering of the candidates in the first stage of the election process.

On the basis of the attendance and the academic performance, out of a number of students who filled nomination, the Student Council Election-2015 witnessed only one candidate qualifying as eligible contestant for the post of President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary each while for the post of Vice-President, two contestants passed through.

Though the election was held only for the post of Vice-President, the other three posts been taken over unopposed, the voters reflected great zeal and the turnout was taken to be much improved than that of the last year.

Following the official ceremony, the newly-elected council was personally addressed by Mrs. Neena Dhawan, Principal MCM DAV, who assured full support for the student welfare and wished the members a great tenure ahead!
