The 10th Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON) commenced at Panjab University (PU) here today.
The theme of the three day Congress is “Integrative Approaches in Advancement of
Science”. As many as 1500 academicians, scientists and researchers from various
institutions and industrial houses from Chandigarh region and various other parts are
participating in the conclave. The Congress would conclude on March 2.
An exhibition of research activities of various institutes of Chandigarh region and
departments of PU also started at the Law Auditorium ground. A Souvenir–cum-abstract
book encompassing research work of various scientists was also released at the inaugural
Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar Prof. Sarit K. Das inaugurated the
scientific extravaganza. He appreciated the pioneering efforts made by PU in providing a
common platform for exchange of ideas for city scientists. In his keynote speech, he
discussed about an interdisciplinary approach on the properties and applications of
nanofluids in health care science & technology by thermal removal of cancer using
targeted drug delivery. He further emphasized the use of gold nano rods in the treatment
PU Vice Chancellor Prof A.K Grover envisioned Chandigarh as a scientific city with
scientific culture, scientific thought and scientific infrastructure with PU playing a
pivotal role in enhancing education in the region and spreading awareness keeping all
the institutions with itself.
Earlier, the show started with a welcome address by the organising secretary of the
Congress Prof. Archana Bhatnagar.
