Chandigarh Literature Festival 2016 to Offer a Literary Paradise


Raising expectations of the literature-lovers and giving literature a well-needed thrust, Mitul Dikshit (Chairman, Adab Foundation) and an acclaimed author, Annie Zaidi opened up with the minutest of the details of Chandigarh Literature Festival 2016, in a press conference on October 13th, 2016.

The 5th edition of Chandigarh Literature Festival is being organized by Adab Foundation, a not-for-profit registered society working to provide a conducive horizon for the exchange of ideas; as it brings together a number of poets, authors, actors and scriptwriters under one roof for a quality contemplation on various books and topics. The event is scheduled to happen from November 10th to November 13th at Chandigarh Club-1, Chandigarh. As per the format of the event, the line-up of speakers/guests have been kept strictly related to the line of theatre and literature. Through a number of sessions, the event aims to celebrate 11 books and 4 films.

While the list of books include ‘Sea Horse’ by Janice Pariat, ‘Hashimpura’ by Vibhuti Narayan Rai, ‘Name for Every Leaf’ by Ashok Vajpayee, ‘Conquest and Community’ by Shahid Amin and such; three European poets- Adrian Grima (Maltese), Yolanda Castano (Spanish) and Brane Mozetic (Slovenian) shall synchronize with three Indian poets- Surjit Patar (Punjabi), Monika Kumar (Hindi) and Sampurna Chattarji (English) in the event ‘Polyphony’. On the same line, four films have been nominated- Pink, Piku, Raman and Raghav, and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.  The event will also have a time-space for music performances and spoken poetry. On and all, the event is definitely on a ‘look-out for’ list of November.
