Bringing out culture through myriad colours

One of the hallmarks of Panjab University is that there is never a dearth of vibrancy in the campus. Keeping up with this spirit, a cultural extravaganza- ‘Real Panjaban 2016’ was organised by the girls’ wing of NSUI today. A three hour long event providing a huge platform for talented girls, attracted a huge audience in the law auditorium. Prior to the event, a short performance of bhangra at the Student Centre was quite a head turner filling the ambience with vigour and enthusiasm.

The fun filled afternoon began with a fashion show with all the girls dolled up in a totally Punjabi avatar. It was judged by a panel of four including eminent personalities like Mrs. Sukhi Brar. Ajay Chikara, former NSUI president of Delhi University, presiding over as the chief guest congratulated the students for putting up a brilliant cultural show and praised the University especially for always keeping its cultural roots intact. Singing performances, bhangra and giddha followed making everyone’s feet tap a little. Mandeep Kaur Sekhon won the first prize in the contest and Aman Kaur was the runners up. Watching the show was a very rewarding experience for the audience for all of them went back rejuvenated with energy, a function that Punjabi culture seems to perform the best.

Looking forward to more of such events.
