On May 29, 2017 Chandigarh witnessed it’s one of the most colourful event as yet, Blank Canvas- An Amalgamation of Art, Expression and Research’. Blank Canvas was organised by the Musawar, being it’s first ever event. The event took place in the lounge area of Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh on Sunday, kickstarting at 3’o clock in the noon.
Musawar, is another art community of Chandigarh. As the founders said, Musawar was created keeping in mind to provide a common stage for all the artists to showcase their talent, in the city. The community aims to promote young artists through social media, workshops, events and even projects such as wall art.”
6The Blank Canvas, the opening event for the Musawar family, started with a lecture by Anubham Som, the chief guest for the event and an eminent artist, revolving around the ideas of art expression. He shared his work and laid down a model stating “how one pursue it imagination into the wall of art as gesture of explaining thing through sketching and paintings”.
Soon, after the opening lecture followed a documentary screening show casing the art work of renowned Artist “Man Ray”.  The screening gave a way to clear up the mind limitation and become a creative being from a rational one. Screening helped to create a sense of environment which gave base to indulge all into a session of live drawing and sketching-Paint your own world. Artists were seen drawing and painting their imagination down on the blank sheets, giving life to it. Each and everyone drew down what they had in their heart.
2Lastly, the event concluded with a short discussion on intensive research paper, explaining the importance of research in art. Work of Gorillaz band and Dali was shared as an inspiration on how to think out of the box.
The event had a lot to give and the paints made my the artists present there are evidence that everyone learned a lot. Musawar aims at organising more such events to help us discover the every depth of our imagination and draw it out on a piece of paper.
