Biotecknoholix 2K16 organized in PGGC-11


The Biotechnology department of PGGC 11 organised BiotecknoholiX, the first of its kind event, based solely on Biotechnology. This was the first inter-college event in the history of PGGC-11 organised by the Biotechnology department. The event was aimed at bringing out ideas of students across the tricity and accumulating them to create an environment where a student could freely speak his mind about the infinite potential and possibilities that the field has in store.

The event was inaugurated by the college Principal, Dr. J. K. Sehgal, who did the ceremony of lighting the lamp, and seeking the blessings of the almighty, motivated the students and wished them success in life. The event was graced by Dr. Kashmir Singh, a renowned researcher in the field of Plant Microbiology, who discussed some of his research works and told the students about the recent advances and benefits of Biotechnology.

There were various competitions in which the students showed tremendous performances. The highlight of the event was a play, that was performed by the students of Biotech (hons.), based on uses of biotechnology to overcome a lot of problems faced on an everyday basis, which turned out to be a grand success.

The event wrapped up on a joyous note and the department looks forward to conducting many such events on a larger scale in the coming years.
