This week’s release was the much awaited Bajirao Mastani directed by the ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. The film depicts the eternal love between the mighty Maratha Peshwa Bajirao Ballad (Ranveer Singh) and the beautiful Mastani Bai (Deepika Padukone) set in the historical backdrop. This period drama film shows the struggles fought by Rao and Mastani to fight the odds in a very pompous and a gallant way. It describes the religious inconsistency between the two prelevant at the time which does not mellow down the intensity of the relationship of the Peshwa and the Princess. Once again, Deepika showed her mettle with her captivating moves and enchanting looks and it would be safe to say that Ranveer has definitely carved a strong place in the industry after this physically and emotionally challenging role. Apart from the protagonists, Priyanka Chopra (Kashibai) potrays Rao’s first wife and her diligence to the character and her international experience is justly shown in the film. Bhansali has once again proved his feat by paying enormous attention to every minute detail, from the illustrious sets to larger than life action sequences. The music of the film adds a certain charm to the story. Although the story isn’t absolutely real, it is depicted otherwise on reel. The chemistry between Padukone and Singh is charismatic, cheeky and charming. It is a perfect blend of history with a bit of fiction and a recommended must watch this winter season. The film clearly teaches the viewer to love tirelessly, unconditionally and irrevocably.
