University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University in association with Rotaract Club, Mohali, organized a One-Day Seminar on the theme “Understanding PolyCysts of Ovaries” at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hall in the Panjab University Campus on February 27, 2016 from 10 am to 3 pm. Nearly 200 delegates, invited guests and research scholars attended the Seminar.
The primary objective to make the youth aware of the prevailing PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which is quite common in young females.
Senior Gynaecologist, Dr Nirja Chawla was the Keynote speaker at the seminar. She enlightened the audience about the symptoms and causes of the syndrome. She further proposed the holistic modifications in lifestyle to prevent and manage PCOS.
Professor Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, Chairman, UIPS, Panjab University in his presidential speech encouraged the youth to volunteer for such services and encouraged for awareness of the society by organizing such events.
Dr. B. S. Chandhok, Sr. Homeopathic Consultant and Dr. Sonia Gandhi, Head Nutritionist and Dietician at Fortis Hospital Mohali, also delivered lectures at the Seminar. Finally, the one day seminar culminated with a panel discussion on various vistas of PCOS where various queries were also answered. Rtr. Sukhmandeep, Rtr. Chinmay Abbhi, Rtr. Priyanka and Rtr. Amarjot were amongst the organising team lead by President Rtr.Raspreet Singh and Joint Secretary Rtr. Manmeer Kaur.
