That’s the feeling you have for the ever- refreshing days of youth in your college. The hostel memories, fun in canteen, grilling friendships by bunking lectures, every moment becomes precious. And how does it feel to meet your old pals and brim up all the nostalgia again! It feels amazing.
The grand rendezvous got the Alumni of MCM together to reunite and live the beautiful old days again on February 11, 2017. It was indeed an enchanting scene organised by AMDA (Association of MCM DAV Alumni), seeing the gorgeous ladies laugh and hug their old friends with all the love. The show began with soothing notes of music played by Simran Choudhary, a third year student of the college who has also been the finalist of ‘Voice of Punjab’ and has been amongst the top 14 finalists of the show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’. She sang a Sufi and a folk song making the aura of the place tantalizingly melodious. The melodies continued to cast a spell on people as three more performers from the alumni set the stage completely alluring. Ms Prabhjyot, Best Vocalist (2013-2016), Hardeep Bani (2003) batch, Meenu (1999) batch mesmerised everyone with their mellifluous voices.
The alumina when asked about their feelings said how amazing they felt reconnecting with one another. Garima Singh, an alumina from 1980 batch, said, “In our routine life we get lost in the daily chores. But when you really stop and go back you wonder how long have you come.”
After the magical effect of rhapsodies, the convener of the alumni committee threw light on the spirit of humanity that the alumni of MCM behold. Their commendable contribution in NSS, Rotaract Club, Arya Samaj is worth the admiration. Dr Beenu Dogra (alumina), Principal of GCG College Sec 42, contributed Rs 1 lac for promoting music talent in the college. Mrs Rabi, another alumna is the founder of Samarpan, an NGO that helps the children of the slums by giving them education, proper food and other basic facilities to their families too. The children of this NGO also gave a beautiful dance performance for the first time leaving the audience spellbound.
The excitement and enthusiasm got multiplied when an alumina ‘Jasmeet’ who is now an established choreographer, did a commendable justice to this form of art. She is the founder of North India’s first dance facility. A Zumba master trainer, Reebok metabolic trainer and has done various national and international workshops in Russia, Hungary, Dubai. Jasmeet got the audience shake their legs to the beats by telling them the importance of dance in our lives. She made a fun-filled interaction with audience making the atmosphere turn totally rapturous. The alumni from various batches walked the ramp with aplomb with their respective groups a making everyone admire their grace.
The exuberance of the air was intensified even more when RJ Golmaal Gagan and Vishal from 94.3 MY FM had a lively interaction with audience making it all humorous and memorable. They played a game ‘pehchaan kaun’ where they played the recorded voice of different teachers asking the audience to recognise.
The scene was beautiful seeing people reunite, reconnect and remember the fond memories from the past. Dr Nisha Bhargava, Principle MCM DAV, ended the grand show with her words full of wisdom and motivation for the youth and alumni. She expressed her happiness seeing the strong women achieving their goals by becoming brand ambassadors. She inspired the students to make big endeavours and become independent.
The evening got enlightened with the shining smiles of the alumni who had left the nest long back for the surpassable flights and endeavour to reconnect with their pals to make cherishable memories!
