Kesa laga? Sukoon Mila.
Indians, on February 26, 2019, woke up with a smile on their face. Enchantment of “Bharat Mata ki Jai!” followed as our Air Force retaliated the loss of our brave soldiers martyred in the Pulwama Attack on February 14, 2019.
Let’s revise what happened on February 14, 2019. On that day, a convoy of 78 vehicles transporting more than 2,500 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from Jammu to Srinagar was travelling on National Highway 44. The convoy had left Jammu around 03:30 IST and was carrying a large number of personnel due to the highway having been shut down for two days prior. The convoy was scheduled to reach its destination before sunset. At Lethpora near Awantipora around 15:15 IST, a bus carrying security personnel was rammed by a car carrying explosives. It caused a blast which killed 40 CRPF personnel of the 76th Battalion and injured many others. The injured were moved to the army base hospital in Srinagar.
Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack. They also released a video of the assailant Adil Ahmad Dar (alias Adil Ahmad Gaadi Takranewala or Waqas Commando), a 22-year old from Kakapora who had joined the group a year earlier.
The whole nation was mourning the loss of our Jawans. Every Indian cried for revenge. Opposition was ramming the Government for staying silent. Little did we know that the government had started planning something never done before, an Air Strike, 40 kilometers deep in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
At 3:30 AM on Tuesday as per the IAF sources, 12 Mirage 2000 jets participated in the operation that dropped 1,000 kg bombs at the terrorist camps and launchpads across the LoC and completely destroyed them. Alpha-3 control rooms were also destroyed. Training facility at Balakot was developed in 2000-2001, overseen by Saifur Rehman Saifi. Notably, Saifi has pioneered suicide bombings in Pakistan, fought with the Taliban in Afghanistan, and targeted religious minorities. Al Rahmat Trust (another Jaish-e-Mohammed front) is also registered there. The Indian Air Force has put on high alert all air defence systems along the international border and LoC to respond to any possible action by Pakistan Air Force.
“Today I repeat what I said back in 2014 – Saugandh mujhe is mitti ki main desh nahi mitne doonga, main desh nahi rukne doonga, main desh nahi jhukne doonga.” Said our Honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Damodar Modi in regards of the air strike.
