Continuing this tradition of gratifying the go-getters, GGDSD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh organized the prize distribution ceremony on April 22, 2017. Awards were given to students who had achieved milestones in various fields and to teachers who had completed their doctorates.
The chief guest, Paramjit S. Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law who is a keen researcher, took to the stage and approbated the students as well as teachers. Having three decades of experience, Paramjit Jaswal also has to his credit 66 research papers published in various reputed National as well as International Journals/Books.
The event started off with Saraswati Vandana being performed by the students of the college music club.
The college annual report was presented by the principal Dr. Bhushan K. Sharma. He congratulated the students and staff of the college for making the institution one the best educational institutions in the country. The college was recently ranked 41st in the list of top colleges all over India and was also awarded A+ grade by the NAAC. Dr. Bhushan gave a detailed account of what the students of the college did in the past year to outcast others.
This was followed by the chief guest’s speech in which he praised the college for its outstanding achievements and claimed that the future of the nation is in good hands. He said, “most of the students these days are busier with their mobile phones rather than focusing on studies and other productive activities. This should be reduced to utmost level to achieve their goals in life.”
This year 930 awards were presented to various students of the college. A total of 455 prizes for academic excellence, 216 for excellence in extra-curricular activities and 259 students for sports activities were given to the students. About 88 students were awarded the roll of honor and 102 were awarded college color which is the highest distinction award in the college. Around 10 teachers were also honored and awarded with cash prizes of completing their doctorate degrees.
The president of the management society, Mr. Upkar Krishan Sharma also praised the students for their achievements and inspired them to continue on with such excellence and keep on making the institution proud.
The event concluded with the National Anthem.
There was a lot of joy and happiness amongst the parents of the students who won the prizes as their wards did achieve praise for them and made them proud.
It was indeed a day of content and cheerfulness for the SDians.
