5 Hacks To Overcome Writer’s Block

Writing about writer’s block is better than not writing at all.

–Charles Bukowski

It is fairly common, it happens to everyone and is inevitable. So, if you’re going through it, getting all impatient and then find yourself racing through all the articles about how to deal with it, my first advice would be to ask you to sit down and take a few deep breaths.

First things first, this is not the end of the world, you have not lost your potential and this is nothing out of the ordinary if you’re a regular content creator. Secondly, it’s very easy to get out of it (and I can say this because until a moment ago, I was going through the exact same thing) and with a few tricks, you can rock the world with your words again. But before you read further, keep in mind the fact that not every activity listed below would work for you. The solution to your problem will depend on how your mind triggers with respect to the activities and thus, try finding something that works for you, and then stick to it!

1. Leave the table / laptop where you have been sitting for a while waiting for the magic to happen, and go out for a walk or to a park and just listen to some music. This will help freshen up your mind.

2. Pick up a book and start reading it. It’s a great stress buster and will totally refresh your mind.

3.Eat something you like, cook your favorite meal or make a good coffee and chill. Don’t constantly stress over the fact that you are not able to write. Give yourself some time off.

4.Unplug. Get away from the social media, your phone, etc and enjoy the natural environment. Simply break free from all the distractions.

5.Free-write. Now this is essential. You don’t have to be perfect, just write anything that comes to your mind. Make bullet points to get yourself started.

Now that I have listed some ideas on how to overcome writer’s block, I’d assume super important that you know that what you require is momentum. You just need to start afresh, with anything that comes to your mind and within no time, you’ll be back on track. So to ensure that you get that brain working again, I’m going to list out some things that you are not supposed to do.
